We all thought the troubles in Northern Ireland were behind us and then in the same weekend 2 soldiers 1 police man are murdered and several other injured. This is of course a cowardly act of murder and is rightly condemned by all. My deepest sympathy and thoughts were with the families.
However, the biggest betrayal of those two soldiers killed is the way their bodies were brought home for burial – as freight. No one can not be moved by the sight of a Union Flag draped coffin being carried of a transport plane at Brize Norton with full military honours and dignity. This final act was denied by the Government for ‘political reasons’.
