I spent some time today talking to residents close by the proposed development site and it appears that something is afoot.  The local farmer has been served a letter explaining that the fields he farms but owned by Metacre are to be the subject of a planning application.  In discussions with local residents it’s come to light that surveyors have been down and have done significant surveying work.

The area that looks most likely as the place for development are fields north of Mowbreck Lane and east of the Fleetwood Road playing fields.  As no application has yet been submitted, details are scarce, but could the allotments be turned into houses?

My position is clear; Wesham is full and I oppose all new large scale planning applications for housing in Wesham.  I’m sure that there will be more detailed arguments to come in the following weeks and months, but simply put, it’s another town or villages turn, Wesham is full, we’ve had our quota and we’ve no more to give.

One day will all this be bricks and tarmac?

I will spend the next few days gathering as much information that I can and keep doing regular posts and mailings.  Fylde’s planners don’t know any further details and won’t do until formally approached by the developer.  Wesham as a community needs to band together to fight this over development.  We’ve stopped it before and we can stop it again.

Do we need anymore or have we got enough?
